The downtown Mount Dora hub for contemporary cuisine has been recognized for quality cooking and a farm-to-table focus. Trader Joe's opening new Florida store Nov. 5, more coming in 2027

Attention shoppers ! Florida's newest Trader Joe's is opening Nov. 5 in Orlando. It's one of dozens of locations nationwide that the quirky grocer is opening at the end of 2026, but it's not the only Florida location on its way. A Sarasota location will open by the end of 2026, according to company spokesperson Nakia Rohde, and more are planned for 2027. Butter held at 68 degrees overnight and ham, cheese, and raw chicken held at unsafe temperatures led to a stop-sale order and several food and health citations at Perkins Restaurant & Bakery in Volusia County. The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation inspection on Oct. 20, 2026, at 1405 N Woodland Blvd in DeLand found 12 violations and resulted in a warning with a follow-up inspection required. The restaurant required two follow-up inspections to rectify the issues found.
