Wildfire Forcing Evacuation Of Juliaetta At 2,000 Acres Structures Lost-Second Large Fire South Of Troy
A new wildfire South of Juliaetta is forcing the town to be evacuated. Latah County Sheriff’s Deputies are evacuating the town along the Potlatch River due to the Gwen Fire which has burned over 2,000 acres. Initial reports indicate that structures have been lost. Firefighters are battling the blaze from the ground with support from aircraft making water drops on the flames. Evacuees can go to the Latah County Fairgrounds in Moscow. State Highway 3 is closed South of Juliaetta. The Latah County Commissioners will consider continuing their emergency declaration for wildfires. The board first approved the declaration last week when Texas Fire erupted nearby East of Kendrick torching four homes.
Whitman County Board of Adjustment Unanimously Approves Conditional use Permit for Apparent Amazon Warehouse off Moscow-Pullman Highway
COLFAX - The Whitman County Board of Adjustment has granted a Conditional Use Permit for an apparent Amazon warehouse off the Moscow-Pullman Highway. The board unanimously approved the required CUP during a public hearing in Colfax Thursday night. The applicants are Ambrose Property Group and Kimley-Horn. Those companies build distribution warehouses for Amazon across the country. The application doesn’t mention the online retail giant.
Level 3 (Go Now) evacuations issued for active fire in Troy, Idaho
TROY, Idaho — The Latah County Sheriff's Office said Level 3 Evacuations (GO NOW) have been issued for a active fire burning in Troy, Idaho. According to the sheriff's office, deputies are evacuating anyone who lives southeast of 1295 Driscoll Ridge Road because of the fire. Deputies say the fire is moving to the southeast, and anyone who is in the area of Driscoll Ridge is being advised to evacuate immediately.

LATAH COUNTY, Idaho - The suspect accused of killing four students at the University of Idaho is requesting his trial be moved to Boise, Idaho, for a more fair trial. Company provides visuals of wind farms
COLFAX — The company proposing a new wind farm in Whitman County is hoping to soothe the public’s fears that the machines will be an eyesore on the Palouse. Steelhead Americas is hosting a public information session 10 a.m. to noon today at the Whitman County Library in Colfax regarding the Harvest Hills Wind Project. The company is displaying digitally rendered images that show what the windmills will look like from different vantage points on the Palouse. A similar information session was held Thursday.
