Cookie Plug, a California-based chain that has expanded to more than 30 locations across the nation since first opening in 2019, is celebrating its grand opening within the Tomoka Town Center at 1307 Cornerstone Blvd. in Daytona Beach Saturday, May 25.

The grand opening event, which takes place from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., will kick off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by a day filled with the “doughpest” cookies, DJ entertainment and exclusive opening day gifts and deals for customers who stop in to the celebration.

Free pup-friendly treats will also be offered, as the shop's grand opening coincides with the Free Furry Family Festival that takes place at Tomoka Town Center from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Saturday.

“We have merch to give away, T-shirts, other things like poppers for your phone, you know? We’re just trying to create a good vibe, and hopefully people like it,” store manager Ed Otero said.

The ever-growing chain intertwines elements of hip-hop culture and street art with that of decadent baked treats, creating a brand where its quality, presentation, and individuality are at the forefront. Cookie Plug prides itself on its “Fat, thicc and addicting” array of made-fresh-daily regular and keto treats that are anything but “cookie cutter,” according to its website.

The graffiti-inspired, pet-friendly new shop will cater to sweet treat cravings across the county, offering 12 funky, fun flavors like the O.G. chocolate chip cookie, Pink Elephant strawberry cheesecake cookie and Snooperdoodle snickerdoodle cookie, alongside four keto cookie selections and one mystery flavor that will change weekly.

“The cookies are — compared to other places and other cookies, ours are super thick,” Otero said of the part-cake, part-brownie and part-cookie treats.

“We’re family-oriented, and you know, hopefully people like the culture of it all,” Otero continued. “I know it looks very hip-hop-ish and everything like that, but we cater to everybody — everybody’s welcome … It’s fun, and that’s what we hope for."

Cookie Plug will offer pickup and delivery.

Cookie Plug is located next to Dominic's Deli, and will be open tentatively 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. daily. For information, visit cookieplug.com.
