DAYTON, Ohio ( WDTN ) — A standoff on King Avenue ensued after Dayton Police and the U.S. Marshals attempted to serve a warrant on an alleged fugitive.

Noah Lowe, of Dayton, was sought for alleged weapons violations.

Lowe allegedly barricaded himself in a home in the 1800 block of King Avenue after officials tried to serve the warrant shortly after noon.

Dayton Police summoned its SWAT unit to assume command.

Many families in that neighborhood watched the whole incident unfold at that home on King Avenue. Residents told 2 NEWS they believe this situation was a case of squatting gone horribly wrong.

Canisters of tear gas launched into the home that neighbors say was abandoned but people were living inside. Neighbors say they are uneasy with this incident happening in what many describe as a quiet neighborhood.

“I don’t know. You never know when like you have a killer next to you or some crazy thing. But it’s just the reality that we face nowadays,” said Jordan Baker, neighbor.

Lowe surrendered and was taken into custody around 3:20 p.m., according to the Marshals.
