DAYTON, Ohio ( WDTN ) — During the Dayton City Commission meeting Wednesday evening, the commission approved a resolution amending the city’s code regarding hooning.

Hooning includes tire-screeching, burnouts, and other forms of reckless driving. With the amendment, all-purpose vehicles and off-highway motorcycles are now included in the law.

Officials say this is an attempt to cut down on reckless driving by ATVs and dirt bikes on city streets and private property. This was the second hearing, passing as an emergency ordinance.

Violations of the law would result in a minor misdemeanor and could carry up to a $150 fine.
