A stretch of road between Darien and Norwalk is causing concern after a car ended up in the water over the weekend.

Officials said it happened just before the bridge, off the intersection of Tokeneke Road and 5 Mile River Road.

    No serious injuries were reported.

"It was just one person in the vehicle, and he was able to get himself out of the car without any assistance, and my further understanding is he was not seriously injured," said Darien First Selectman Jon Zagrodzky.

In February, a car drove into Five Mile River, resulting in one fatality and another person injured.

Darien police say the driver from February and the driver from this weekend both drove off on the same path.

"The road curves very slightly to the right,” Zagrodzky said. “So, if you're in the right lane heading into Rowayton, if you're not curving with the road, you could drive straight across as both of the victims in this particular instance did."

Route 136 is a state road, the Connecticut Department of Transportation says they've already investigated it, and a plan is underway.

"We're going to be installing new signage, they're called 'S Curve' signs, so that will clearly tell the driver that there is some curve happening here, we're going to put up some new speed limit signs, and we're also going to refresh the pavement markings," said DOT Spokesperson Josh Morgan
