A few spotty showers through Saturday; a taste of summer heat by Sunday
On the average May is the second wettest month of the year for Indianapolis with an average of 4.75″ of rain. So far, the month has lived up to its billing. We’ve had three inches of rain this week, pushing our monthly total to almost four inches. The frequent rains of April and May have put farmers behind schedule. Only 36% of the corn crop and 34% of the soybean crops have been planted. Last year by this time, 50% of the corn crop and 47% of the soybean crops had been planted.

INDIANAPOLIS – Kyle Larson followed a successful Fast Friday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway with a concerning start to the first day of qualifications. Larson — who was sixth in the qualifying order — was on the backstretch of his fourth and final qualification lap when he pulled his No. 17 Arrow McLaren Racing Chevrolet into the deceleration lane and drove into pit lane with his four-lap, 10-mile qualification attempt unfinished.

Warmer into the weekend with some rain chances
Temperatures today will be in the mid 70s with mostly cloudy skies. A few showers will be possible off and on throughout the day but no prolonged rain is expected. Temperatures will climb over the weekend into the 80° range tomorrow and then into the mid to upper 80s on Sunday. Both days will features plenty of sunshine. Saturday a few pop up storms will be possible in the afternoon while Sunday looks completely dry.
