DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — A Danville man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to dealing methamphetamine in the City of Danville.

Prosecutors said Terry Carter, 31, pleaded guilty earlier this week to possession of meth with intent to distribute, a Class X felony. He was sentenced to prison the same day.

Evidence presented in court showed that an investigation by the Vermilion County Metropolitan Group revealed Carter was dealing meth in Danville. Through a series of controlled buys, prosecutors said, enough evidence was gathered to search Carter’s home.

The search revealed Carter was in possession of a large amount of meth, packaging materials and drug paraphernalia. During an interview with law enforcement, prosecutors said Carter admitted to selling meth.

Once released from prison, Carter will be required to spend 18 additional months on parole.
