One dead, one injured in Dansville crash

One person is dead and another injured following a crash in Dansville.

The crash happened about 9:30 a.m. on Friday on Circle Road. Witnesses reported a car crashing into a tree and catching fire, said Dansville Police Chief Shannon Griese.

According to police, Timothy Williams, 45, of Wayland, New York, was driving a 2017 Ford Escape eastbound on Maple Street when he experienced a medical condition. A passenger attempted to control the vehicle as it accelerated, eventually colliding with a tree after crossing Main Street.

Emergency workers extricated Williams from the vehicle, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival at Noyes Hospital.

The passenger sustained multiple non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital.

The investigation is ongoing.
