ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – One man has died and another person was hospitalized following a fatal motor vehicle accident in the village of Dansville Friday morning.

The Livingston County 911 center received a call from citizens who witnessed the accident, reporting a car crashed into a tree and was on fire in front of 4 Circle Road in Dansville at around 9:36 a.m.

Dansville Police officers say these citizens were able to help the two people involved in the accident before police arrived.

According to police, 45-year-old Timothy Williams of Wayland and a passenger were traveling down Maple Street in a 2017 Ford Escape when Williams experienced problems with a medical condition.

The passenger tried to steer the Ford Escape as it traveled at a high speed eventually colliding with a tree.

Livingston County EMS took Williams to Noyes Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The passenger was brought to Strong Memorial Hospital with multiple non-life-threatening injuries.
