Slim rain chances sneak in Thursday ahead of wet stretch
(WTVY) - Early sunshine will kick October off with another afternoon near 90°, but increasing moisture will start to change our warm and dry pattern by stirring up stray showers and thunderstorms over areas south and west Thursday. Much more rain and heavy cloud cover will follow for the weekend, especially on Sunday, to support cooler but humid days. Drier air will shove moisture out early next week, resulting in another temperature dip.

ALABAMA — A big change is coming to Alabama this weekend, with a good chance for much-needed rain after last weekend’s sunshine. Scattered showers and storms will begin Friday evening, followed by steadier rain and storms from Saturday afternoon into Sunday. The Weather Prediction Center is forecasting more than 4 inches of rain in some areas, though ensemble guidance shows about a 30 to 40 percent chance of 2 inches or more.

DLS officials say Bridge 5 in Forever Wild Trails has been damaged by fallen trees after a storm. The debris has been cleared, but DLS says to use caution while using the bridge.
