Temperatures will heat up Wednesday with more heavy rain heading to North Texas on Thursday. There could be areas of flooding and a few severe storms are also possible. The rain will end early Friday ahead of a hot, dry weekend.

Wednesday started with temperatures in the 60s under a mostly clear sky. Clouds will increase Wednesday night and could produce a few showers around the area by daybreak. Thursday morning lows will dip into the upper 60s.

A strong upper-level disturbance will move across the area Thursday producing widespread shower and thunderstorm activity. Some rain may be heavy at times from 12-9 p.m. There could be a few isolated severe storms that may contain moderate size hail and gusty wind, but the main threat with this system will be areas of flooding.

Most areas will see 1-2 inches of rain, with isolated higher totals possible in some areas. The bulk of the heavy rain will move out before midnight Thursday. Temperatures will hold steady in the 70s all day.

There will be a few leftover showers early Friday with a slow decrease in clouds throughout the day. High temperatures will reach the low 80s.

This weekend will be warm and dry with afternoon highs in the low 90s. Heat index values will approach 100 degrees.

Next week will start off hot, windy, and dry, with morning clouds and afternoon sun. Afternoon highs will reach the low to mid-90s. Heat index values will approach 100 degrees.
