TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - Patricia Finstrom, a longtime Jefferson resident, became the very first female mayor of the town - winning 70% of the vote. Finstrom’s main platform is infrastructure. She notes that the town park only has one porta-potty, despite the multitude of activities happening there throughout the week. Mayor-elect Finstrom also notes that the roads are ‘undrivable,’ which was an important part of her platform for office.

Kay Temple Stephens of Linden has received the Spirit of 1812 Award from the National Society United States Daughters of 1812, the local chapter of which she founded 10 years ago. Bennett was barely edged out by William Mitchell of Marshall with a time of 10.43. Blake Holland of Magnolia won the bronze at 10.54.
