Mom mourns bull riding son who died after getting stepped on at rodeo
BANDERA, Texas (KSAT) - A Texas mother is mourning the loss of her 22-year-old son who died after he fell off a bull at a rodeo and got stepped on. Peter De Luna, 22, was only a bull rider for one year, taking up the sport in May 2023. He died after he fell off a bull Friday during the Riding on Faith Rodeo Summer Series. Though stepped on, he was initially able to walk away from the incident, but he collapsed and died soon after.

Juneteenth celebration scheduled at local historic cemetery
A celebration to recognize Juneteenth will be held in Bandera at the Bertha Tryon/ Hendrick Arnold Black Cemetery on Saturday, June 15, at 11:00 a.m. The cemetery is located on old Medina Highway right off of Highway 16.This year’s celebration in Bandera is being hosted by the Bandera County Historical Commission, the Frontier Times Museum and the Silver Sage Resource Center.Mayor Rebeca Gibson, a member of the Juneteenth Planning Committee, will open the event.A wreath will be placed at the cemetery’s gate and there will be a traditional reading of the Emancipation Proclamation.A popular addition from last year’s celebration, the ...
Lakehills Library Leanings
Two great events are planned for the kiddos this summer.First, the library is hosting a Kids Steam Camp, for youngsters 8-9 years old. For a registration fee of $10, the kids will attend a one-week camp, from June 17 through 21, 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.The fee includes their very own camp shirt and lots of learning and fun. Parents can sign up at the library and there are scholarships available.The second event for the kiddos is the Summer Reading Program, “Adventure Begins at Lakehills Library.” There will two showings every Wednesday in June and July, one at 10:30 a.m.
