Volunteers needed for community cleanup on Black River this Saturday
Anyone looking to lend a hand cleaning up the Black River this weekend will have a couple places to jump in. In part hosted by the Black River Boat Club, the cleanup is slated to run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, with volunteers gathering at the Riverside Boat Launch in Port Huron or at Bakersfield Park in Port Huron Township.
Sturgeon Fest returning to Port Huron
An upcoming celebration of Great Lakes sturgeon is no big fish story, as the Friends of the St. Clair River will host its annual Sturgeon Fest on June 1 in Port Huron. “We happen to have the largest concentration of Lake Sturgeon in the St. Clair River compared to anywhere else in the entire Great Lakes because so much work has been done to study sturgeon, serve and protect them here in Michigan,” Friends of the St. Clair River Executive Director Sheri Faust said.

Blue Water Area law enforcement to hold ceremony for fallen officers
Local law enforcement will be holding a ceremony Wednesday in honor of fallen law enforcement officers. The ceremony is being hosted by the U.S. Customs and Border Protections Office of Field Operations at the International Flag Plaza near Blue Water Bridge. Other participating law enforcement offices include the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office, Port Huron Police Department, Michigan State Police and U.S. Border Patrol Detroit Sector.
