Wolverines slug their way past Wildcats

LENA — The Crivitz baseball team brought the lumber to a 10-3 thumping of Lena in Marinette and Oconto Conference play on Monday.

The Wolverines bashed out seven hits, including a three-run home run from Pierce Polomis, while Jackson Schramm and Stephen Allard combined to spin seven innings of three-hit ball on the mound.

Crivitz (4-2 M&O, 5-6 overall) jumped ahead 1-0 in the top of the first and never looked back, as the Wolverines plated two runs in the second, third and fourth innings to build a 7-1 lead.

Lena (1-4 M&O, 3-5 overall) tried to claw back in the bottom of the fifth after Tyler Shallow stole home before Dylan Comins hit a sacrifice-fly to score Logan Graef and make it an 8-2 contest.

Crivitz collected a pair of insurance runs in the top of the sixth after Tegan Werner scored on a sac-fly by JJ Brand before Logan Marvin dashed past home plate on an error.

Allard did the rest, getting Colt Miller and Graef to fly out before Anthony Seefeldt reached base on an error, but a lineout to shortstop by Comins halted any potential Wildcats rally.

Schramm was the winning pitcher with two hits, three runs (one earned), one walk and eight strikeouts in five innings of work.

Shallow took the loss after giving up eight runs, six of which were earned, along with six hits and six free passes.

Werner and Walter Laguna Herrera each had a multi-hit game for the Wolverines.
