NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Wednesday kicked off day one of the Nebraska high school state track and field meet out in Omaha. Teams from classes A and B are taking center stage today. Weather played a factor, as rain and lightning in the Omaha area delayed afternoon running events. Listed below are athletes that medaled on Wednesday.
Kearney Boys Track & Field Claims Class A Title
OMAHA – For the first time since 2014, the Kearney High School Bearcat boys track and field program has claimed the Class A title. Kearney, one of the traditional powerhouses in track and field with sixteen team championships from 1994 through 2014, earned the title over the two day Class A State Track & Field championships held at Omaha’s Burke Stadium with 78 total team points.
