Attending the City of Palm Coast’s Memorial Day Ceremony at Heroes Memorial Park has become a tradition for the Stanford family. For Tim and Carmen Stanford, a Gold Star Family, it is a day filled with pain and a reminder of the loss they endured on Oct. 4, 2008. But Memorial Day is not the only day of the year to honor and remember our fallen heroes – they should be remembered every day.
Putnam County postal office to be renamed to memorialize life of mail carrier fatally attacked by dogs
MELROSE, Fla. – A postal office in Melrose will be renamed to honor the life of a mail carrier who was fatally mauled by a pack of dogs in Putnam County in 2022. When Pam Rock’s postal car broke down on Aug. 21, 2022, while she was delivering mail on a dirt road, five dogs escaped their fenced-in yard and attacked her. The dogs’ owner had previously tried unsuccessfully to surrender them to animal control.

Florida man allegedly takes bite of RaceTrac pizza, leaves without paying
PALM COAST, Fla. - A Florida man has landed himself in jail after he allegedly took a bite out of a slice of pizza from inside a RaceTrac and left without paying for it because he was "tired" after work and "didn't have the money," according to an arrest affidavit from the Flagler County Sheriff's Office.

Despite no Volusia-Flagler girls tennis teams capturing state championships, the local clubs made plenty of noise this spring. Spruce Creek remained the class of the area. The Hawks finished 14-3 overall and 5-0 in head-to-head matchups against other local squads. They won the Five Star Conference Tournament, claimed a district title and fell just short of a state appearance in the region finals. Spruce Creek sent its No. 1 singles player and No. 1 doubles duo to the Class 4A individual doubles draw.
