Thirteen Inducted into Cozad High School NHS
Cozad High School conducted its NHS Spring Induction on Monday, April 29. NHS sponsors are Woody Blackmore and Amanda Rossell. Officers for next year are Jorja Yocom, President; Brock Malcom, Vice President; London Costanza, Secretary; and Callie Kostrunek, Historian. Other 2023-2024 members involved in the ceremony were Erica Weatherly, Taeh Soeh, Noah Shoemaker, Larkyn Malcom, Mason Fales, Latasha Heuck, and Tally Sassali.
Lexington boys soccer heading back to Class B state championship
OMAHA, Neb. (KSNB) - The NSAA state boys soccer tournament continued in Omaha on Saturday with the semifinal round. No. 4 Lexington took on 8-seed Mount Michael Benedictine in the Class B semifinals and won 2-0 to advance to the state championship game for the third time in four years.

Haymakers Find Success at Southwest Conference
On April 30, the Cozad Boy’s golf team competed in a dual against the Minden Whippets, featuring both varsity and junior varsity teams. Cozad varsity secured first place with a score of 175, just one point ahead of Minden's 176. Cozad junior varsity finished third with a score of 190, while Minden junior varsity scored 210.
Zamora-Saenz scores twice to put Lexington boys soccer into Class B state semifinals
OMAHA, Neb. (KSNB) - Lexington boys soccer drew the No. 4 seed at the NSAA state tournament, marking the fourth year in a row the program has qualified. The Minutemen drew five-seed Elkhorn North in the quarterfinals and got two goals from Jorge Zamora-Saenz to win 2-0 and advance to the Class B state semifinals. There, they will meet eight-seed Mt. Michael Benedictine, who upset top-ranked South Sioux City.

City Approves Class C Liquor License for Frontier Frau
The City Council meeting began with a public hearing on Monday, April 22 concerning the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission’s recommendation on the application for a Class C liquor license for the Frontier Frau, located at 144 & 122 W. 7th Street in Cozad. Owner Amara Block was present at the hearing. “Even though we will be specializing in European-style lagers, we realize that some of our patrons prefer other alcoholic beverages such as wine, and we want to be able to offer these to complement our food menu,” Block said. The council unanimously approved the recommendation, and anticipation for the brewery's opening continues to mount in the community.

Summer is just around the corner and the spring sports season is nearing its conclusion which means each and every meet matters to build momentum towards qualifying for state. The FKC invitational took place at Overton Golf Course on April 30 with Wilcox-Hildreth and Axtell in attendance along with six other schools. The Falcons placed sixth with a stroke score of 384, while the Wildcats placed eighth with a stroke score of 674.
