Hidden sinkhole forces Council Bluffs apartment building to be evacuated
COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa — A hidden sinkhole forces an apartment building to evacuate in Council Bluffs. Some action has been taken by the city, but very little is known about the sinkhole just yet. City officials said one building at the Parkwild apartment complex has been posted, meaning there's a notice to take action, and so far eight apartments have been fully evacuated and all utilities in the building have been shut down, but it's something no resident ever expected to hear.
Hole opens up in Omaha street, block to be closed for two weeks
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Some Omaha residents took to social media Tuesday night to bring to light a big hole that had opened up in the middle of a city street. Inmate housed at Community Corrections Center-Omaha dies
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services reports an inmate housed at its Omaha facility died over the weekend. Douglas Dowding, 59, died Sunday at an Omaha hospital. He was serving a 43 to 50-year sentence for kidnapping and attempted first-degree sexual assault out of Douglas County, as well as theft and possession of a controlled substance out of Sarpy County. His sentence began in September of 2003.
