ISP arrests wrong way driver on Interstate 64

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT)- Indiana State Police led a multi-county effort to stop a tragedy on Interstate 64 late Wednesday night.

According to ISP, the Spencer County Sheriff’s office was alerted to a wrong way driver that was traveling west in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 64. Another trooper was able to deploy stop sticks, and once the vehicle was stopped, troopers say that the driver became combative with officers, even biting a trooper as she was being placed into custody.

The suspect has been identified as Lauren Jones of Corydon, Indiana. After Jones was medically cleared, she was booked into the Dubois County Jail and now faces nine charges, including driving under the influence, resisting law enforcement and battery on a police officer.

According to Indiana State Police, the incident traveled through Warrick, Spencer, Perry and Dubois Counties before being put to a stop. The trooper who was bit required medical attention.
