Costumes and treats at Plains Halloween events
Ghosts, goblins and ghouls filled the streets of Plains on Friday evening. What could draw so many spooky creatures ou Meg Collett has her face painted by Ashley Hill during the Alliance Churches Harvest Fest. (Tracy Scott/Valley Press) t on a cool, cloudy night? Halloween, of course — and the residents of Plains know exactly how to celebrate it, with a full day of activities for kids and families alike. The day began for elementary and pre-kindergarten students in the back parking lot of Plains School, where this year’s Trunk or Treat event took place. Fifteen organizations came together with 22 candy-filled trunks, ready to greet eager trick-or-treaters. Among the returning participants was Lyle Fisher of Plains Ambulance, who brought along his popular dummy Fred for the third year in a row. Sanders County Sheriff Shawn Fielders and Deputy Sheriff Caleb Adkins also returned with buckets of candy to hand out. “We have a lot of fun with it,” Sheriff Fielders said. “This is my third year doing it now. It’s great to see the kids and be part of the community like this.” The Plains Parents and Teachers Association arrived with four vehicles; each stocked with plenty of treats.

Musicians Co-op hosts a day concert for local senior citizens
The Western Montana Musicians Co-op hosted a day concert for local senior citizens last Friday at the Pearl Theater in Ronan. However, Moller still wanted to provide live music to these communities and decided with his wife, Shannon, to bring it all together. “We got really booked and couldn't do it anymore, and so this is a way to bring them all in and do it all at once, and kind of get a good thing going,” Pete said. The Co-op is based out of the Pearl Theater, which is the Entertainer Theater in Ronan. The Co-op changed the name to honor the original owner Pearl who envisioned it as a performance venue in 1917. The theater was built as a performance venue and used as one until it was changed to a movie theater. Pete, who is the vice chair on the board of the Co-op, coordinated his band and another band called the Kenmille to play for the crowd, giving them a mix of classic rock, old country and
