CORTLAND, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Ergardo Rosario was sentenced for aggravated vehicular homicide on Tuesday, April 23, in Cortland County Court.

Rosario received a three to 15-year sentence after he was convicted of striking a utility pole in the City of Cortland on Feb. 25, 2023, while driving under the influence of fentanyl, marijuana and methadone.

By striking the pole, Rosario killed one passenger in his vehicle and seriously injured two others.

Prosecutors also say Rosario was driving at 47 miles per hour in a 30 mph zone before hitting the pole.

He will serve his sentence in state prison.
