Roundup Parade Street Closure And Parking Details
Sonora, CA — A community celebration, the Mother Lode Roundup Parade, will get underway Saturday morning at 10 o’clock in downtown Sonora. Over 100 entrants will be taking part and it includes the traditional mix of horses, classic cars, bands, dancers, service groups, businesses, and government agencies as detailed in our Round Up Section here.
New Mother Lode Roundup Queen
Sonora, CA — A Lodi resident, who grew up in Burson, is the new Mother Lode Roundup Queen. 22-year-old Delaney Grace was awarded the crown at the Queen Coronation Ceremony held Thursday at the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Posse Grounds in Jamestown. Grace was also Miss Clements Stampede in 2020, a title she proudly held for three years as a result of the pandemic. She noted that she strives to live a life spreading kindness, smiles, and laughter.

Sonora, CA — Today is the final day of the 65th annual Mother Lode Roundup weekend in Sonora. It’s another day of rodeo fun with more bucking broncos, bull riding and some laughs as today the kids get in on the action at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds. Start the day of right with some good food at the Mother Lode Breakfast from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. At 10 a.m. head to the Cowboy Church with Coy Huffman for a sermon in the grandstands. Then spend the afternoon for plenty of rodeo action and some family fun! The Kiddie Rodeo begins at noon followed by professional riding and roping that begins at 2 p.m.

Sonora Man And Juvenile Accomplice Arrested For Armed Robbery
Sonora, CA – A Sonora man and his juvenile accomplice have been arrested for armed robbery and kidnapping. Sonora Police report that the crime took place on March 12th, but the pair was not handcuffed until April 6th. Investigators learned that 21-year-old Alexander Adrian Hernandez and his 16-year-old accomplice had driven the victim, whom they knew, to a local bank.
Angels Camp Police Officer Honored For Saving Lives
Angels Camp, CA – An Angels Camp police officer is being honored for de-escalating a “suicide by cop” situation where others were being threatened. Officer McDearmid received an Officer Commendation Tuesday night at the Angels Camp City Council meeting for her actions regarding a suicidal person. The incident occurred this January when Officer McDearmid was dispatched to a situation involving a suicidal person with a gun. Police report that the person said that he was “going to shoot his neighbors if officers didn’t shoot him first.” Officer McDearmid is praised for her ability to de-escalate the situation peacefully, and no one was harmed.
Local Educator Honored For Improving Student Attendance
Sonora, CA – The state’s top educator recognized the 2024 recipients of the Model School Attendance Review Board (SARBs), and one is from Tuolumne County. Rob Egger from the Tuolumne County Superintendent of Schools Office, who has over three decades of experience in Tuolumne County as a teacher, lecturer, and administrator, was one of 23 across the state to get the award. All were praised by State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond for voluntarily committing to serve as expert role models and support providers for other SARBs in school districts and counties seeking technical assistance throughout the state. This year, 23 school attendance review boards (SARBs) have been designated as model programs by the State SARB for exemplary practices that contribute to reducing chronic absenteeism rates and improving student attendance.
