Man suspected of attempted murder arrested in Grays Harbor County after chase
A 32-year-old Spanaway man who is wanted in Pierce County for attempted murder tried to elude Grays Harbor County deputies to avoid arrest, authorities say. A Grays Harbor County sheriff's deputy saw the man driving in a suspicious vehicle Thursday just outside of Hoquiam. The man refused to identify himself, so the deputy ran a check on the vehicle's registration and determined that the registered owner was wanted out of Pierce County for attempted murder, first-degree assault and first-degree burglary, according to a Grays Harbor Sheriff's Office Facebook post.
Aberdeen City Council moves to Grays Harbor College
The Aberdeen City Council will move venues for the second time in a couple weeks after the elevator in Aberdeen City Hall broke on May 1. The city shared the news of the change early Thursday morning, six days before the city council’s next meeting, which will happen Wednesday, May 22 at 6:30 p.m.

Hoquiam pellet plant approved for air quality permit
A proposal to build a wood pellet manufacturing facility in Hoquiam has received approval from regional air quality officials to move forward with construction. In a notice sent out on Tuesday, the Olympic Region Clean Air Agency (ORCAA) issued its final determination on a 2023 air quality permit from Pacific Northwest Renewable Energy to build a plant that would turn woody biomass into pellets for fuel.

AJ West holds superhero-themed Fun Run
Over 150 runners took part in the annual AJ West Elementary School Fun Run on Friday in Aberdeen. Thanks in part to a grant from the Washington Education Association’s Chinook regional office, the 2024 version of the approximate one-mile run consisted of 161 runners, members of the Aberdeen High School track and field team, Miss Grays Harbor and dozens of staff members and volunteers.
