Another Conemaugh Twp. road is closed due to water damage

HOLLSOPPLE ― Another section of roadway in Conemaugh Township has been closed because of water-related road damage.

On Saturday, PennDOT Di strict 9 announced that Route 601 (Penn Avenue) between Veterans Street and the Route 403 intersection is closed until further notice.

Traffic is being detoured around the area using Veterans Street and Route 403.

"PennDOT crews in the area observed cracks on the surface of the road and damage to the shoulder caused by water escaping from an abandoned mine," the announcement said.

"PennDOT will continue to monitor the situation and provide further details as they become available."
