Funeral held for Des Moines teen born with half a heart
DES MOINES, Iowa — Members of the Des Moines community laid 17-year-old Savoy Morton to rest on Friday. Morton died on May 7. Since birth, Morton had overcome countless medical odds. He was born with a rare heart defect called hypoplastic left heart syndrome, which means he only had half a heart.
Nonprofit FOCUSS launches second mobile crisis unit
ANKENY, Iowa — Nonprofit organization FOCUSS launched its second mobile crisis unit equipped with mental health resources last week.
