The opening round of the WIAA Regional baseball playoffs began Thursday, with several area teams in action.

Who advanced to the Regional semifinals and who’s officially on summer vacation? Read on to find out.

    Division 3

    No. 5 Coleman 7 — No. 12 Tomahawk 4

COLEMAN — Logan Kurth and Logan Lamine combined to toss a no-hitter as the No. 5-seeded Coleman Cougars bested No. 12 Tomahawk 7-4.

Kurth tossed five innings of no-hit ball, walking three while collecting 11 strikeouts, before Lamine picked up a two-inning save.

Tomahawk (5-16) led 2-1 before the Cougars hung six runs on the Hatchets in the bottom of the third to take a lead they would not relinquish.

OCONTO — Devon Bostwick spun a gem on the mound to help the No. 8 Oconto Blue Devils blank No. 9 Crivitz 8-0.

Bostwick kept the Wolverines off-balance all afternoon, allowing a mere three hits in seven innings pitched. He walked three and struck out eight.

Joey Bailey and Cooper Campshure ignited the Blue Devils’ offense with back-to-back RBI-singles in the bottom of the second inning.

Crivitz (14-9) had an opportunity to cut into Oconto’s lead in the top of the fourth after JJ Brand socked a double, while Walter Laguna Herrera slapped a two-out single before moving into scoring position on an error.

The Wolverines were unable to bring either man home however, as Kaden Klaver popped out to Bostwick to end the inning.

Collin Bauman, Garrett Goestch and Jackson Martin kept the carousel spinning for Oconto in the fifth with consecutive RBI knocks that put the Blue Devils on top 5-0.

Campshure and Kyle Bowman popped back-to-back ribbies in the bottom of the sixth to make it a 7-0 game before Bowman scored on an error to lift Oconto ahead 8-0.
