Cohoes pizzeria closing, owner hopes to reopen in the future

COHOES, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — Spindle City Pizza , located at 84 Ontario Street in Cohoes, is closing its doors. The pizzeria’s last day will be March 30.

“Making this decision was incredibly difficult, but as a sole proprietor, with a minimalist support team on hand only a few hours per week, facing lingering health uncertainties, it is a necessary step,” said owner Ryan Hotaling in a Facebook post .

For the last few days, Hotaling said he will be serving a limited menu with what inventory he has. He won’t be restocking and customers can visit the Spindle City Facebook page to see what’s left to order.

“I want to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you,” said Hotaling. “Whether you have been a loyal guest for years, or have just recently discovered us, your unwavering support has been the driving force behind this journey.”

Hotaling is hoping to reopen Spindle City Pizza at some point, but he tells NEWS10 that it won’t be anytime soon or in the same place. “A reopening would likely be somewhere else, ideally with some more space,” said Hotaling. “But there are no dates or plans in motion at this point, nor any timelines that hold any accuracy, while I navigate health issues.”

Spindle City Pizza opened its doors in October 2022 . The name pays homage to the City of Cohoes, which became a manufacturing center in the late 1800s.

“Though this news may be disheartening, I am confident that brighter days lie ahead, and I look forward to them with optimism and enthusiasm,” said Hotaling.
