Abilene residents get free self-service recycling drop off at Sam's
ABILENE, Texas — Abilene residents now have a new Community Recycling Unit at the local Sam's Club, 5550 S. Clack St., the retailer announced Friday. The unit provides residents a free recycling solution for various items, including some that may not be accepted by local curbside programs. Accepted waste streams include aluminum, clear plastic containers, home cleaning and beauty bottles, plastic bags and films and rigid plastic food packaging.

The Texas Veterans Land Board is inviting members of the public to attend the funeral of Bob Gilbert Wood at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene. Wood served the U.S Marine Corps from 1960 to 1965 and is a recipient of the Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal.
