Chesterfield’s Brandenburg Park opens for season with upgrades
Chesterfield Township’s Brandenburg Park recently opened for the season with a slew of upgrades. Described as one of the jewels of the township, the 17-acre park offers boat and kayak launches, a fishing pier, a splash pad, an inclusive playground and swings, sports courts and more. Last year, about 88,000 people visited between Memorial Day and Labor Day, officials said.
Riley Twp. woman charged in fatal Macomb County crash
A 27-year-old Riley Township woman was arraigned Monday in connection with a traffic crash in Macomb County's Washington Township. It is alleged that on Feb. 12, Courtney Ellise Niezgoda was driving her Ford EcoSport on M-53 near 32 Mile Road when she ran a red light hitting another vehicle and killing 63-year-old Tina Yaney of Macomb, according to a press release from the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office. Niezgoda was allegedly operating her phone at the time of the crash.

On Wednesday evening, the latest class of Port Huron Northern Huskies crossed the graduation stage to start the next chapter of their lives. The stands of McMorran Arena were filled to the brim with proud families and friends of the graduating class. Many students said they were happy to start their lives post high school. There were 284 graduates from Port Huron Northern this year.

Bruce Lindke and Art Smith have been licensed funeral directors for 50 and 60 years respectively and have been working with each other for the majority of their careers. The two of them will be receiving certificates of recognition for their years of service at the Michigan Funeral Directors Association annual conference.
