CLOVIS, N.M. (KAMR/KCIT) — The Ninth Judicial Attorney’s Office announced that 53-year-old David Brown of Clovis was recently sentenced to four years in prison for “Trafficking a Controlled Substance, a Second-Degree Felony.”

The attorney’s office reported that on Jan. 25, 2023 officers from the Adult Probation and Parole Office reportedly conducted a home visit on one of their clients at a local hotel. Officers and the Clovis Police Department found “10 grams of methamphetamines, black tar heroin, and fentanyl pills.”

Brown was then reportedly arrested and on April 24, a judge declared Brown “a habitual offender” due to his previous convictions of two prior felonies in the last 10 years which added to the mandatory four-year jail sentence.

“In total, Brown was sentenced to the mandatory four years in the Department of Corrections with the remaining nine years of the sentence all suspended in favor of five years supervised probation,” a release from the attorney’s office read.
