Man dies after driving into embankment near McArthur Road exit Thursday morning
A man was killed in Cumberland County early Thursday morning after taking an exit on a highway and driving into an embankment, the State Highway Patrol said. According to Trooper M. Washington, the victim of the single-vehicle crash was southbound in a burgundy Jeep Wrangler on Interstate 295 before taking the exit to McArthur Road at about 6 a.m.
Man charged with cocaine trafficking after drug bust in Cumberland County, deputies say
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — A man is facing charges after a search yielded drugs in a Fayetteville home Wednesday, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office. At 9:10 a.m., deputies said they issued a narcotics search warrant on the 6500 block of Schaffer Place in Fayetteville with the assistance of the Special Response Team and the K-9 Unit.

While the United 8 conference held it's softball championships in Lumberton, Segra Stadium hosted four Fayetteville schools in the Jackie Robinson Showcase, and the All American and United 8 began conference tournaments for girls soccer. NCISAA Sandhills conference saw their softball and baseball champions crowned as well.
