Cleanup continues; meteorologists break down ‘perfect storm’
(Missoula Current) Chainsaws continued to roar on Friday and some areas remained without power two days after a powerful storm ripped through the Missoula Valley. Meteorologists on Friday described it as a “once-in-a-decade” event – the last being in 2015. Early estimates place the damage in the tens of millions of dollars with cars crushed, houses and infrastructure damaged, and the steep toll that hurricane-force winds took on the city's prized urban forest.

No fire spreading noted in Miller Peak Fire following Wednesday's severe storm, debris blocks Lower Miller Creek
UPDATE: July 26 at 10:04 a.m. The Miller Peak Fire is still 25% contained on the southern edges of the fire as of Friday morning with 2,660 acres burned. 787 total personnel are on the scene of the fire today working on extinguishing hot spots in the area and tending to new fire starts.
Power in Missoula back for some, others may have to wait until early next week
Thousands of people in Missoula were still without power Friday afternoon after a powerful storm blasted through the area Wednesday night. NorthWestern Energy at noon Friday said they had more than 160 personnel and 34 line crews working to restore electricity as quickly as possible. The utility warned some outages might not be repaired until early next week.
