Deputy assaulted while trying to arrest suspect in Cleveland

CLEVELAND (WJW) – A deputy with the United States Marshals Service was injured in Cleveland while serving a warrant in Cleveland Thursday morning.

According to the U.S. Marshals Service , it happened at a home on the 2100 block of West 104th Street while serving a warrant on Malik Shabazz for aggravated robbery and fraud.

According to the U.S. Marshals Service , the deputy was assaulted at the home and was taken to the MetroHealth Medical Center for treatment.

Shabazz was not inside the home at the time the warrant was being served. The deputy was assaulted by a man who has a warrant out of Strongsville. He was taken into custody after the assault, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

The severity of the deputy’s injuries is unclear at this time.
