CLEVELAND (WJW) — The ATM at a Huntington National Bank branch that closed in February has been damaged , a bank spokesperson confirmed.

It happened overnight Tuesday at the bank’s former branch at 11623 Buckeye Road, Cleveland police confirmed.

The bank announced in October would close the branch due to “an increase in crime” at and near the property. Its last day was set for Feb. 9.

Residents lobbied to keep the branch open at least another 90 days, but the bank declined. Though the branch closed, the ATM remained in service.

A bank spokesperson in January said the bank would check back in six months to see if safety had improved in the area.

Cleveland police are now investigating.
