A teardown boom is remaking Dallas with giant farmhouses, black roofs, and fewer trees
In older Dallas neighborhoods, smaller houses are being replaced by much larger homes, changing the neighborhood character and impacting tree canopy, privacy, and sunlight. Across older Dallas neighborhoods, smaller houses are routinely giving way to much larger replacements, often tall white farmhouses or boxy modern homes. To many nearby homeowners, that shift feels like a change in neighborhood character, rather than a passing style preference.

KidMania Closes Plano Location After 13 Years
A fter 13 years of serving Plano families , KidMania has closed its Plano location. The indoor playground announced the closure on Instagram in September, thanking customers who spent “summers, weekends, snow days and evenings” at the family entertainment center. KidMania said it has downsized to its Fort Worth location, which remains open. What’s Next For The Space? Although KidMania has closed, plans are already emerging for its former location. A Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing lists a project called RC WORLD at 7252 Chase Oaks Blvd. The filing describes a 15,586-square-foot interior finish-out with an estimated construction cost of $400,000. Construction is listed as beginning Oct. 1, 2026, with an estimated completion date of June 1, 2027. The filing does not explain what RC WORLD will be or establish that the project is connected to KidMania, so details about what is planned for the space remain unclear. The closure comes as Plano’s indoor-play options continue to change. Digger’s Cove recently brought a new indoor sand playground to Plano, with construction-themed play areas and interactive activities for children. For KidMania, operations will continue at its Fort Worth location at 9101 Tehama Ridge Parkway. Don't miss anything Local .
