TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A Clearwater woman who had no valid driver’s license crashed an unregistered car Wednesday morning while fleeing from troopers, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Krashanta Nicole Barnes, 34, was allegedly weaving in and out of traffic on I-275 just before noon when she almost hit a fuel tanker, troopers said. She then slowed down to about 35 mph in a 65 mph zone, causing other drivers to have to swerve around her.

Man with weapons, gas tanks in car threatened to drive into FDOT building in Tampa, police say

A trooper attempted to pull Barnes over for reckless driving when she evaded the trooper for about 5 miles, FHP said. She eventually crashed in the area of Gandy Boulevard North and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street North.

The vehicle she was driving had a temporary tag attached to it that was not registered to that vehicle, according to troopers. Barnes also had no valid driver’s license and four prior suspensions — one in 2013, two in 2014, and one as recent as this month.

The woman was taken to a hospital and charges are pending, troopers said.
