Rickerd-Danielson American Legion Post 227 War Memorial Groundbreaking
SPRING VALLEY, WI – On Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. members of the Rickerd-Danielson American Legion Post 227 held a short groundbreaking ceremony for a new granite Veteran’s War Memorial. The Legionnaires were joined by Post Auxiliary members, some Boy Scouts, and interested members of the community for the ceremony. The Memorial is located just west of the original veteran’s Memorial location and next door to Spring Valley Dentistry near Park Drive and World War I Veterans Memorial Highway (State Highway 29).
Track and field: Cameron qualifies 11 events for state meet
The Cameron Comets track and field teams qualified 11 events for the state meet during a Division 3 sectional held in Cameron on Thursday. The Comet girls finished as the sectional runner-up with 69 points, trailing defending state champion Fall Creek by three points. With 19 points the Cameron boys were 15th in the team standings. Attacking police officers leads to prison sentence
A Barron man was sentenced to prison on Monday for attacking law enforcement. Jordan M. Rarick, 23, pleaded guilty to two felony charges of battery to a police officer and one misdemeanor battery charge on March 19. WOODVILLE, WI – Woodville, Wisconsin celebrated their 73rd Annual Syttende Mai last weekend, May 16, 17 and 18, 2024. The Woodville Lions Club sponsored event enjoyed great success this year with exceptionally beautiful weather. There were four exceptionally beautiful young ladies competing for the title of Syttende Mai Queen this year with the Coronation held at 3:00 p.m., on Saturday, May 18 in the Viking Middle School (VMS) Gymnasium.

Pioneers girls finish 12th at True Team State Championships The Pierz Pioneers girls track and field team competed at the True Team State Championships in Stillwater Saturday, May 18. The girls took on tough competition , placing 12th as a team. Kora Toops was one of the team’s highest performers, finishing third in the high jump, at a height of 4’10. Allison Skiba placed fifth in the shot put, with a distance of 103’10.
