This weekend's can't-miss events in the Cincinnati area: April 26-28

It's another action-packed weekend here in Cincinnati! There is so much happening around the Queen City with events that promise something for everyone. A few big festivals are happening this weekend, including the popular Asian Food Fest as well as the Greater Cincinnati Earth Day Celebration and a multitude of festivities in honor of Arbor Day.

1. Asian Food Fest

Asian Food Fest returns for its 13th year with an epic weekend of food, entertainment, family-friendly activities and more. The festival spans Saturday through Sunday, and you can enjoy Asian cuisine from more than 60 vendors, from food trucks to brick-and-mortar restaurants, spanning 15 different Asian food traditions. Beyond the delicious eats, you'll find a packed schedule of live music, dance performances and even a Vocal Beats Karaoke Contest.

2. Greater Cincinnati Earth Day Celebration

Head over to Summit Park to celebrate Mother Nature at one of Cincinnati's largest Earth Day festivals! At the event, you can expect to see live music, over 125 exhibitors, local vegetarian foods and Madtree Brewing Company’s craft beer. Cincinnati Recycling and Reuse Hub will help you recycle an assortment of plastics, cellphones, water filters and more. This year, the festival centers around the theme "Planet vs Plastics."

3. Celebrate Arbor Day

While Arbor Day will officially be observed on Friday, April 26, there are events throughout the weekend for you to join in the festivities. Help plant new trees, check out new trails, celebrate in the nation's No. 1 park or take a walking tour.

  • Arbor Day Celebration, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Smale Riverfront Park, Schmidlapp Event Lawn, 166 W. Mehring Way, Downtown. Tree giveaway, naturalist discusses trees and vegetation. Free. Cincinnati-oh.gov.
  • Arbor Day Celebration, 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, Little Miami Golf Center, 3811 Newtown Road, Newtown. Volunteer to help plant a variety of shrubs and native trees to help reclaim part of the Tri-State Trails that was once overrun by invasive plant species. Pre-register: greatparks.org.
  • Arbor Day Celebration, 10 a.m. Saturday, Phillips Park, 11667 Rich Road, Loveland. Ribbon cutting ceremony to officially open the Dyson Trail.
  • Arbor Day Walking Tour, 10 a.m. Friday, Spring Grove Cemetery, 4389 Spring Grove Ave., Spring Grove Village. Registration required. $5. springgrove.org.

4. Queen City Pop

Do you love comics or anime? If so, you won't want to miss the inaugural Queen City Pop, a convention happening on Saturday at the Duke Energy Convention Center. This single-day celebration of comic books, anime, movies, games and more features costume contests, panels and a wide variety of other exciting events. Queen City Pop promises to be a one-stop market for all things pop culture.

5. Art in Bloom

Art in Bloom is a weekend-long display at the Cincinnati Art Museum. This year's themes and programs are inspired by Natasja Sadi, an Amsterdam-based floral artist who creates arrangements from natural materials and photo-realistic sugar flowers. In addition to the exhibition, be sure to check out the Art in Bloom related events throughout the weekend: Art After Dark in Bloom on Friday, A Floral Presentation with Natasja Sadi on Saturday and a Art in Bloom Drag Brunch on Sunday. Admission to see Art in Bloom is free, though some of the other art-inspired activities may require a ticket.

6. Cincy Silent Disco

Dance the night away at the inaugural Cincy Silent Disco. This new monthly series is set to take place on the last Saturday of each month. At the disco, you'll get a pair of headphones that connect to one of three live DJs. Each DJ will broadcast a different genre of music, so you can select your favorite tunes and then hit the dance floor. Tickets are for sale individually, or bring the party and buy group tickets at a discount.

7. Taco & Tequila Bar Crawl

Calling all foodies! The fifth annual Taco & Tequila Bar Crawl will take place on Saturday. After the registration party, this event guides you through Over-the-Rhine to experience local bars and taco shops. A ticket includes four tickets for free tacos and offers discounts on signature margaritas, beer and tequila shots. Attendees can also enjoy a DJ and professional photographer. Also, receive an official crawl lanyard.

8. WWE Friday Night Smackdown

Night one of the WWE Draft will take place in the Queen City on Friday! Be there to witness one of the most important wrestling events of the year; a draft that predicts the fates of wrestling superstars. Don't miss out on the chance to see your favorite stars, including AJ Styles, Bianca Belair and more. Tickets for this event begin at $29.

9. Grant Days

Visit the childhood home of Ulysses S. Grant to learn more about his pets, children, the crossing of the Isthmus of Panama, how he took on the KKK and more. Enjoy music, lunch and cake at Georgetown United Methodist Church, a Grant re-enactment and fireworks in honor of Grant's birthday.

10. Race for a good cause

If you're looking for an excuse to get outdoors and enjoy the spring weather this weekend, race in one of Cincinnati's walks/runs for a good cause.
