An Anderson High School student has been arrested after they allegedly put a cellphone in a bathroom vent and made recordings with it.

Officials said a student at Anderson High School noticed a recording device in a vent in the restroom. They took the device and then were confronted by the person who claimed the device was his. Forest Hills School District said in a statement that school administrators, coordinating with district leadership and school resource officers, began investigating allegations that the student was inappropriately recording things Tuesday afternoon.

The sheriff's office took over the investigation on Wednesday, the district said. On Thursday, the sheriff's office said a juvenile, aged 17, had been arrested on charges of voyeurism.

"Keeping students safe is of the utmost importance, and FHSD works quickly to investigate all situations concerning the well-being of students, staff or visitors," the statement said. "Anderson High School has taken appropriate disciplinary action against the student, and law enforcement will take any legal action they deem necessary."

Forest Hills did not provide any additional information on the allegations due to the ongoing criminal investigation.

WCPO has reached out to the sheriff's office for more information about the video and its contents, but have not heard back.
