CHURCH HILL — The Church Hill Middle School Lady Panthers’ softball team celebrated eighth grade night with a 10-0 win over Sullivan East on Thursday, April 18. The win capped a 3-1 week for the Lady Panthers, who bounced back from a tough 9-6 loss to TA Dugger on Monday to beat Robinson 5-4 on Tuesday, Sevier 20-7 on Wednesday and East 10-0 on Thursday.

Following the game, the Lady Panthers honored eighth graders Khloe Sanders, Kendall Wilmoth, Emersyn Templeton, Emily Walker, Alyssa McCloud and Marlee Clark and their families in a ceremony on the field.

The game marked the return to the circle of Walker, who’s been nursing a hip injury suffered the last time Church Hill faced East. Walker earned the win, giving up just two hits in six innings with no walks and seven strikeouts.

It was underclassman Madison Holder who towed the line at the plate. Holder drove in four runs on three hits, including a double in the third, to lead the Lady Panthers’ offense. Church Hill racked up 10 hits and drew 10 walks in the game. Paisley Evans and Clark each had two hits. Clark also drove in a pair of runs. Leadoff hitter Danni Guinn had a hit, walked twice and scored twice. Templeton had a double and drove in a run.

CHMS 20, Sevier 7

KINGSPORT — Church Hill amassed 14 hits, including eight for extra bases, to blast Sevier 20-7 on Wednesday (April 17) in five innings.

Leadoff hitter Danni Guinn was 3 for 4 with two doubles and a triple, scored three times and drove in five runs. Madison Holder went 3 for 5 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs. Emersyn Templeton was 2 for 4 with a double, a triple and two RBIs.

Holder also picked up the win in the pitching circle, scattering six hits across five innings. She gave up five earned runs, walked two and struck out eight.

CHMS 5, Robinson 4

CHURCH HILL — The Lady Panthers scored in the bottom of the sixth inning to pick up a walk-off win over Robinson on Tuesday.

Danni Guinn scored the winning run after tagging up on an Emily Walker flyball. Guinn got on with a one-out walk and moved to second on a single by Emersyn Templeton. Guinn and Templeton executed the double steal, and Walker flew out to right field to plate the winning run.

CHMS jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but Robinson clawed back with a run in the third and three in the fourth. The Lady Panthers answered with a run in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game. In the top of the sixth, a hit batter and an outfield error put Robinson runners at second and third with one out. But Guinn caught a fly ball in center field and doubled off the runner at second to end the inning.

Holder earned the win for CHMS. She gave up four runs (two earned) on six hits with two walks and five strikeouts. CHMS also finished with six hits (one each by Marlee Clark, Khloe Sanders, Emilyn Roberts, Paisley Evans, Holder and Templeton).
