The Harrisville Rod & Gun Club will host a vintage snowmobile show/ride and chicken barbecue at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24. Meals are $12 and include chicken, coleslaw, potatoes, and a roll. Chicken halves will also be sold for $8 each. Proceeds benefit the club. Jefferson County explores funding shelters for homeless people
WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - Lawmakers are looking to move some money to help secure shelters for homeless people in Jefferson County. Tuesday night, the county legislature’s health and human services committee passed a resolution to allocate $820,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funds toward keeping people off the street. Director of Housing Jillian Redder says the money has not been officially moved, but if it is, it will fund a two-fold project.

Jefferson County Feb 19 Weekly Crime Report: 90 Incidents and 4 Crime Stories. During the last week, Jefferson County reported a total of 90 crime cases. The most common type of crime was 'Other' with 17 cases, closely followed by 'Disturbance' with 16 cases. 'Domestic Related' crimes were the third most common, with 12 cases reported, while 'Suspicious Situation' and 'Arrest' were the fourth and fifth most common, with 11 and 10 cases respectively. 'Theft' was reported 9 times, 'Arson' 5 times, and 'Trespass' and 'Vandalism' were each reported 4 times. The least reported crime was 'Assault' and 'Burglary' with just 1 case each. These statistics indicate a relatively high occurrence of non-violent crimes, with 'Other', 'Disturbance', and 'Suspicious Situation' making up the bulk of the cases. However, the presence of 'Arrest' and 'Arson' in the top ten also suggests a significant enforcement response and the occurrence of serious offenses.
