Brainy multi-talented student, twice-crowned queen named SHS valedictorian
The words of wisdom Springtown High School valedictorian Kate Mitchell wants to share with her fellow Class of 2024 graduates are to choose kindness. “It takes so much more effort to be mean and to hold grudges and to gossip,” Mitchell said. “It takes so much effort and energy to do that, when you could just be nice and have a good day without really trying because people don't want to have an issue, so if you don't spend the energy on the issue, then there's not going to be an issue.”
Bowie’s longest running employee celebrates 50 years as a policewoman
BOWIE, Texas (KAUZ) - The City of Bowie honored its longest-running employee’s 50th year in the police department on Tuesday. Lynetta Slaton started working for the Bowie Police Department on May 14, 1974, as a dispatch supervisor. She eventually worked her way up to communications commander and finally, to lieutenant, the position she holds now. She told us that what began as a simple summer job ended up becoming her whole life.
