Chicago DEA intercepts Indiana woman with 61.7 pounds of cocaine at Midway Airport

CHICAGO – A 27-year-old Indiana woman was arrested at Chicago Midway International Airport last week after DEA agents seized nearly 62 pounds of cocaine at baggage claim.

Authorities say Cook County prosecutors approved charges of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver and controlled substance trafficking for 27-year-old Chania R. Logan of Indianapolis, Indiana following her arrest on Tuesday, June 4.

According to authorities, several DEA Chicago Division enforcement personnel intercepted luggage belonging to Logan and another person she traveled with from Los Angeles to Midway.

Upon granting investigating agents permission to search her luggage, authorities uncovered 31 pounds of suspected cocaine. Authorities add that the second person Logan was traveling with fled when approached by law enforcement, abandoning his two checked bags.

Authorities said the four pieces of seized luggage contained a total of 61.7 pounds of cocaine.

A Cook County judge ordered her to electronic monitoring.
