Bears' plan includes taxpayer assistance

The Chicago Bears are expected to unveil a multi-billion-dollar plan for a new lakefront stadium in the city of Chicago on Wednesday, and according to a new report in the Chicago Tribune, that plan will ask taxpayers to kick in about half of the costs to build the new stadium.

Taxpayers would be charged with paying for the proposed infrastructure improvements to the new stadium, as well as about $1 billion in new borrowing to finance the new stadium being built south of Soldier Field.

Buyers looking into Oberweis

Oberweis Dairy has announced two companies may be interested in buying the dairy producer.

Less than two weeks after Oberweis filed for bankruptcy protection, the company said Chicago-based Dutch Farms and Hoffman Family in Winnetka have expressed interest in purchasing the company. Oberweis has been in business for nearly 100 years but is $4 million in debt.

Among the best beaches

An Illinois beach has been recognized as one of the best beaches in the country.

Travel and Leisure named the 25 best beaches in the USA and included Oak Street Beach in Chicago as one of the best in the nation. The city’s skyline serves as a backdrop for the popular beach located on Lake Michigan. The top three beaches were located in Hawaii, Maryland and California.
