CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- About seven weeks after back surgery, an African lion cub at the Lincoln Park Zoo has begun spending time with his pride again.

The zoo provided an update on Lomelok, who had surgery in March to fix a herniated disk as part of mobility issues he's had since birth.

The lion cub nuzzled with his littermate in photos shared by the zoo. Animal care teams chose Pesho as the first to greet his brother post up due to his mellow demeanor. The zoo said "the two quickly reconnected."

The zoo said they'll closely monitor interactions between the one- year -olds, but expect them to stay together as long as they continue to get along.

In a more recent update, the zoo said that "reintroductions with the other young lions are going well" too.
