According to a tweet from B Talent, Lunch Heroes will soon open in Lincoln Park at 2273 N Lincoln Avenue.

“We would have liked to open up by now, but each step of the process has taken longer than we anticipated. We are probably one to two months out,” co-founders and co-managers Claire France and Samuel Soliz told What Now Chicago .

“Customers can look forward to delicious cold cut “heroes,” and they can be proud to contribute to our cause: fighting childhood hunger and malnutrition in local communities. We will be using a portion of our profits to fund our charitable mission. “Eat a hero. Be a hero.” – that’s our slogan.  Consequently, our customers can look forward to a fun, comic book superhero-themed atmosphere.”

“Roughly half of all school kids in the U.S. rely on free or reduced lunch programs. And frankly, a lot of the meals provided by these programs are low in quality which can undermine a kid’s performance. A study concluded that kids who receive high-quality meals score about 4% higher on exams than kids who receive low-quality meals (now imagine how having no meal at all could impact a kid’s performance).”

“Food insecurity is terrible enough when it affects adults, but it’s even more tragic when it affects children who cannot yet take care of themselves independently. Life already has plenty of obstacles for children to overcome to grow into healthy, successful adults; in 2023, finding proper nutrition shouldn’t be one of them.”

“This is why Lunch Heroes has made it our mission to provide students with free school lunches that are healthier than what is currently offered. Starting in Chicago, we aim to supplement the current lunch programs already in place, and ultimately we’d like to see our lunches supplant government-subsidized programs entirely, giving children the food they deserve (and freeing up taxpayer dollars to be used elsewhere).”

“When restrictions were placed on businesses due to COVID-19, the restaurant we worked for paused business giving us the time to try out our business model at a local farmer’s market in Printer’s Row during the Spring of 2020.”
