Chesapeake College Foundation Builds Student Success with Scholarships
The Chesapeake College Foundation provided more than $634,000 in scholarships to students for the 23-24 academic year. From computer science to nursing, welding to commercial truck driving licensure, criminal justice to dental assistant, students from more than 45-degree programs and workforce certifications were represented. The majority of the students receiving scholarships reside within the five counties Chesapeake College serves: Kent, Queen Anne’s, Talbot, Caroline, and Dorchester.

CHESTERTOWN — Amongst a hushed and eager crowd, Washington College senior Sophie Foster was named the winner of this year’s prestigious Sophie Kerr Prize. Now in its 57th year, the prize continues to be the nation’s largest literary award for a college student and totals more than the Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award combined. Pair arrested following drug investigation in Kent Co.
HARTLY, Del. – Police arrested two men on Thursday at the conclusion of a two-month long drug investigation. Troopers executed a search warrant at a house in the 2000 block of Slaughter Station Road in Hartly, finding approximately 10.38 grams of crystal methamphetamine, firearm ammunition, drug paraphernalia, and a digital scale.

CENTREVILLE — Saturday afternoon, May 11, the Queen Anne’s County Animal Services hosted their second annual volunteer celebration. The event was held again at Conquest Beach Park, just north of Centreville. During The Arc Baltimore’s recent Annual Meeting and Awards Reception Essex resident Tara Wrightson was recognized with the organization’s school inclusion award for exhibiting fervent support, involvement and advocacy for the students she works with. Wrightson, a Chesapeake High School educator, is a functional academic learning support teacher. Beyond the classroom, she coaches allied soccer and softball, leads the Best Buddies program and secured a paid aide for two students to attend prom and homecoming together despite requiring one-on-one support. ...
