CHESTERTOWN — Saturday, yielded a nice turnout for the 14th annual Earth Day celebration at Fountain Park, in downtown Chestertown.

People showed up to learn about climate and how to adjust their lives to become more sustainable.

Free gloves were handed along with tree seeds. Free, reusable shopping bags were also available.

There were educational booths, ranging from residential geothermal and solar energy installers and energy auditors to conservation practices.

Capital Electric Supply offered free battery and fluorescent bulb recycling.

Beside them was the electric vehicle and electric bike display, and children’s eco-craft making with KidSPOT.

Branch manager at Capital Electric Brian Pylant noted that since the government is pushing electric vehicles the demand for their chargers has greatly increased.

Live music was courtesy of, Lewisson Clarke.

At 9 a.m., as the event kicked off, so did the community Trash and Recycle Walk. Jenny Lee Freebery, chair of the Chestertown Environmental said they had about 20 people participate.

She commended the organizers of the event this year, Andy Goddard and Jon Hanley.

“They just do a great job!” Freebery said.
